ACOG induction recommendations
This has nothing to do with actually medically needed inductions or csections.
I know as the end of pregnancy draws near a lot of us will be getting impatient. And honestly many doctors are still happy to schedule an induction if asked. Or even when they aren't asked they may offer and it sounds so good when you are so miserable.
Here's information on recent (2013 but they are the same now) changes that ACOG made to their recommendations regarding inductions and csections. This article clearly addresses the fact that doctors will continue the practices we now know to be problematic because getting change implemented can be a slow process. But they still are risky practices and we should all be aware of that fact.
Believe me I understand the impatience. My babies have all arrived at 41-42 weeks. But as I see more and more people trying to hurry the process up I just want to share this information.
