Promise rings

So questions…I've been with my boyfriend for a little over a year and we are very close with each other, to the point where both of our family make little jokes about us getting married one day, and we have even had talked about it one day, but I really want him to know that I would like a promise ring to show that he really means that he will propose to me one day and not just his words, so what would be a good way to let him know this or even ask his view point on promise rings?
