Pregnancy test

Okay I've been on the shot for about a little over two months and am due to get my next one soon. I haven't had a period this whole, kinda a little scared just because it's strange for me not to have my period ahah. Anyway because i haven't had a period this whole time will my doctor ask me to take a pregnancy test before getting my next shot?
