Electric versus manual pump?

Question

I exclusively pumped with my older son (he was a preemie and we started that way and just kept it up). But this time around I would like to mostly just nurse. However I would like to pump occasionally. Is a manual pump easier? Worth it? I've read it works better and faster for occasional pumping. I have a 3 year old so being tied to wires isn't always going to work either. I have an electric pump, just wondering if it would be worth it to get a manual one?

I use my manual pump and don't use my electric pump at all. Manual is easier, faster, easier cleanup. I love it!!

Medela are like 30 dollars and they can get as good auction (but they would make your hand tired eventually).

I have found I prefer my manual pump, especially for pumping at work. I can get more out quicker even though I do one side at a time. My manual was only $30 and insurance paid for my electric. Just buy a manual as a back up.

I use the Medela manual pump. I also have the double electric gathering dust in a box. I used that quite a bit with my last baby bc I was working and pumped often at work. But I'm home now and I don't need to pump very often so I like the manual. I think it's pretty slick and just as fast as an electric once you get the hang of it. Plus, I can toss one in my bag and use it pretty discreetly under a nursing cover almost anywhere. It's virtually silent. For what you need a pump for, it might be a great choice.

Ask for one at the hospital. They gave me a manual. I use it on the opposite side a couple times a day when my daughter nurses. I get more in a short amount of time then my electric.

I have a question about you exclusively pumping for your preemie. I have a preemie he will breastfeed only with the nipple shield but not for to long. So is pumping exclusively something that can be done? I have a good amount of milk, but everyone I ask tells me I won't be able to because my milk will go away because it's not the same as the baby breastfeeding
