Too soon?

Question

Is it to soon to start buying baby clothes, stroller, cribs if you haven't conceived yet. I really wanna buy this stuff but then get scared if it won't happen.

I disagree with the previous comment.  My boyfriend and I have been TTC for over a year and still are not pregnant, but have slowly been collecting baby items. I feel that if you are sure you are ready to conceive, why not buy things as you can afford, instead of spending hundreds of dollars at once? It all really depends on your financial responsibility and your thought process. Some people buy before hand, some wait until they find out they are pregnant, others wait until further into their pregnancy, while there are a few that only buy the basics until after the baby is born. If you feel ready to conceive, and want to buy baby items, then go for it!

My family superstition is you can buy anything except the cot and pram?! Never ever bring a pram in before your second trimester and cot is a no no till almost delivery day but each to thier own

Yes too soon. I only have baby stuff I saved from my son. I won't be buying anything till I'm closer to 7 months when we are pregnant. I'll be able to still shop but it'll be far enough to be safe (knock on wood, fingers crossed)  plus I also picked out the stuff I want now so if something's really expensive I'll be able to shop around and save some money and maybe even get it on sale if it's a good price.

I think maybe a small item or two for good luck might not be bad but i don't think i could buy the big items. After reading so many women's stories on their TTC journey and as many as I've talked to or became friends with i don't think i could. Some have been trying for months and some have been trying for years. Even when you and your other half are healthy, there is still no telling how long it will take to concieve or if you'll be able to concieve at all. And if it takes you a while, having the baby stuff might frustrate you more than make you happy. Not trying to be pessimistic but realistic. I hope nothing but baby dust to you & us all. But if you feel it will make you happy then do it.
