Long engagement, is it a must?

We were together for three years before we got engaged. We were only engaged for about 4 months before we got married. We knew it was right. Also we had a small ceremony so it did not require a year plus to plan lol.

I don't think the length of engagement really matters, but I think dating for a year/year and a half MINIMUM is necessary before getting engaged is important to realy be sure of who the other person is. Longer engagement just means saving more for a bigger wedding.

A long engagement is not necessary, my husband proposed after two years of dating and we were married within six months (full wedding ). Fast forward four years and we are now trying for our first child together. No regrets what so ever....

I would make sure you really know this person. We had a friend who just got married and his wife did not show her true colors until they got married, hes not even allowed to say hi to me anymore and mind you him and my husband were best friends until he married her.
