Taken misoprostol today, how long does it take?

Does anyone know how long it takes? I took the 4 pessaries at 11am, took out tampon 1pm, mild cramps 3pm and spotting 4pm but nothing since? The leaflet says normally 4-6 hrs but it can take up to 72hrs to bleed but was hoping it would be quicker than that. I'm worried that it's not working? Thanks

When I miscarried back in September, cramping started about 2-3 hours after the first dose. The awful bleeding and passing of tissue started at 6 that night. So 6 hours after I took the pills.

Well 22hrs later and I've hardly had any pains while I was asleep and no bleeding yet. Not sure if this is good or bad....

If it works for you, you'll definitely need them. Did the doc prescribe you any pain meds?

I started having very bad cramps after about 3 hours, but bleeding didn't start until about 10 hours after i took the pills. And it came in a torrential downpour 😣

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I took misoprostol starting on Wednesday. One dose at noon. Another at midnight. Third dose yesterday (Thursday) at noon. I didn't have anything, not even spotting by Thursday afternoon. My doctor told me to give it more time. By 5pm (29 hours after my first dose) I started cramping and then bleeding.

For about 5% of people misoprostol doesn't work. You may be one of those people or it may take more time like it did for me. It's frustrating though! I just wanted it to be over.

The best advice I can give you is to take your pain meds AS SOON as the pain starts. It gets very intense very quickly. I hope your doctor prescribed real (narcotic) pain meds. If not you may want to call and ask for something. I also recommend having a container to get sick in because that may happen while you are sitting on the toilet. Finally, it helps to have a heating pad or hot water bottle to put on your abdomen and/or low back.
