Would you go or not?
My brother started hanging with this new crowd of people and started doing some hard core drug (heroin and meth) Because of this, last month he had a huge fall out with the family. And only calls us when he needs something (drug $). He's 30 so not like he is a kid anymore. When no one gives him anything he blows up (like an addict would do) We recently found out that he has been arrested for braking and entering to a car. This is his 1st offense of any kind. Never even a speeding ticket. His court date is April 11th. I don't think at this point we need to bail him out by any means. Honestly I think he is safest where he is. About a month ago him and my mom had a HUGE blow out. He said some really mean things to my dad, tried to break into their home etc. He has been really strung out since about the beginning of the year. At least that what I can get him to admit to. Probably much longer than that stuff like this doesn't happen overnight. Anyway.... I want to go to his court date. My mom, dad and sister say I shouldn't but I feel like this... Hopefully this is his rock bottom and if it is he is going to need support to get off this stuff. I am anticipating the judge letting him go with time served. At the time of his court date he will have been there about a month. His bail is only $1000. And it's his 1st offense for ANYTHING. If that happens I feel like if no one is there then he will just go back to being in the streets and stands a better chance of hooking up with the wrong people again. If he knows someone is there to support him as long as he is willing to do the right thing he will stand a better chance of staying clean. They say that by going to court I am just enabiling him but I don't see it that way. I won't help or be there for him if he is not ready to clean up. I just want him to know that if and when he ready I'm here. I was wondering your thoughts. Should I go and be a positive support for him if he choose that route or would that just be enabling him?
