I just feel bad for the poor baby having to be snuggled up against you breastfeeding and having to smell your leftover ashy smoke smell that's caught in your clothes and hair. Smokers don't realize non-smokers can smell you from across the room, even if you wash your hands. Having those tiny little immature lungs and having to get big whiffs of smoke is sad to think about

"They" say 2x as much nicotine is transferred into breastmilk as goes to baby while pregnant BuT the benefits of breastfeeding still outweigh the risks associated with smoking while breastfeeding. I also think the 1/2 life is fairly short with nicotine in breastmilk (like with alcohol). I personally feel smoking ever pregnant breastfeeding, with kids, without, is gross and selfish but that's my opinion. A mother should never smoke while pregnant the science proves to be very harmful to baby. If the mother has to choose between smoking and breastfeeding or not breastfeeding at all, the science says to smoke and breastfeed atleast your giving your baby something heathy especially since babies exposed to smoke have a higher risk of SIDS, asthma, and ear infections.

Smoking is bad! I was a smoker and I stopped the minute I found out I was pregnant. It's not worth my baby's health
