Texas Center for Reproductive Health intentional destroyed my stored semen because they made a “clerical error.” I am a cancer survivor who banked sperm at Texas Center for Reproductive Health (TCRH) in order to have kids in the future. I had also hoped I would be able to use the stored semen, untainted by the chemotherapy, for future medical advances such as stem cell therapy in case the cancer returned. For years I paid TCRH to store my semen thinking my future was safer and hoping for having children through IVF. Then one day, out of the blue, I received a phone call informing me that TCRH destroyed my semen through a “clerical error” two years before! Despite my trust and making my annual payments to Texas Center for Reproductive Health, they took away my chance for future children and my only untainted sample that could have been used for future medical advances.
