The staff was great, the wait time was good - except for when we were doing iui - half an hour waiting naked from the waist down in a cold room. This was after a 1-2 hr gap between appointments to prep everything. I saw the doctor about 4 times in a year and a half, the rest was all nurses (including the iui procedure!). We had to chase down results and what they meant. The interpretation was usually a nurse saying they would call us back after asking the doctor, forgetting to call us back, and then not being able to answer followup questions. We never received call backs from the doctor - only nurses who didn’t always have the answers. When the iui was performed one of the nurses was pointing out something to the nurse assistant and not talking to me. Then after the insemination she announced that I had a polyp and may need to have it looked at by the doctor at a later date! What! I just paid for an iui and you went ahead with the procedure even though you saw something that may or may not affect the outcome of said procedure and didn’t even grab the doctor for my reassurance?! Although the doctor was comforting, I felt it was canned speeches and not personalized to our situation. Even when I voiced concerns, I had to be the one to bring up other options that I found out about on this app! It was frustrating. This doctor was only a fertility specialist and not an OB. Thus, anything that he might have “found” he would need to refer me to someone else. It was aggravating to say the least. I am now seeing an OB/Fertility expert who I love! Personalized care with a different fertility option/plan EVERY month thus far. Plus, they include more monitoring options throughout my cycle. She can do pretty much everything. In fact, she gave me a new fertility plan, performed a biopsy, reviewed my background, and performed a sonogram all in one visit! That would have been 2-3 separate visits at the Westlake Fertility office. Of course, everyone’s experience is different, but I just felt like a Number Here with little specialized or personalized treatments or followup. During such a sensitive time and money spent I expected more. I still love the people who work there-it just wasn’t enough for us. After our miscarriage he kept saying, “well, at least you know you can get pregnant.” Some would want to hear this at that time, but I didn’t. He’s not the only doctor who says this (it’s very typical and a sound deduction), but I didn’t care for it. I wanted more, a plan, options, help for the next possible miscarriage (which he couldn’t give since he’s not an OB), and more sensitivity. Again, great people, but not for me. We are about 2 years into our agonizing fertility journey, and 2 months in using our new doctor. Fingers crossed and Baby dust to all!
