The clinic is sufficient and does the job. Some staff is great and some are very difficult to deal with.
We started our first process of IVF several years ago & was highly recommended to Advance Fertility by many couples we know. We did not have the same experience. We had to basically do their work for them by contacting our insurance company over and over as they were far behind in paperwork. We had to call them for all follow ups and to get the information we were seeking. There was one nurse there that we finally had to request not to have her involved with our process as she was very snippy, snide and told us point blank that it's not her job to contact our insurance company. Ummmm yesssss it is- it's what you're paid to do is what I wanted to say. The head nurse apologized several times on her behalf. We decided to do a sperm aspiration since my husband had had a vasectomy over 10 years prior to this. For any ladies who may be having a urologist doing this procedure on their significant other, I suggest your significant other request the urologist to give them 15 extra minutes to let the numbing mess take effect- they did not give my husband enough time and he felt everything. He now refuses to ever try it again. Needless to say after all the problems we had, we never went through the whole process since every tiny detail was a fight and not honest about the out of pocket costs.
The staff at AFG were all extremely professional and always able to answer all of my questions about my many medications.
I've been a few time very nice staff and they give you all information to save on the medications
I am fairly new to AFG. I know friends and doctors who have given rave reviews, and their Facebook page seems to have a lot of happy patients. I'll admit they are insanely nice, and gentle. Dr. Gentry did a surgery for me and I could not have asked for better treatment.... However, I am still undecided, and it's not because they haven't helped me get pregnant yet. I have a long work history in the medical field. I expect a certain level of professionalism and follow-through from clinic staff. I do feel confident that Dr. Gentry and his staff know exactly what they are doing and talking about. However, I feel they don't do a very good job of making sure their patients understand what is going on. If I had the knowledge to know what they're doing I wouldn't be paying them thousands of dollars to do it for me. Also, I feel their clerical work leaves much to be desired. Their website says every patient meets with the financial staff before treatments start. That has never happened and I've been going to them for more than 6 months. My prescriptions have gone unfilled when I was told they were called in, causing me to have to bother the doctor after hours to get them filled. My calls have gone unanswered or messages were not returned. A surgery took them two months to schedule for some reason, delaying my treatment for a month. They are friendly, kind, understanding, and supposedly very good at what they do, but there are a lot of little (clerical) things slipping through the cracks in my experience - and the wait times are ridiculous. I got in for my ultrasound 45 minutes after it was scheduled last time. Every single time I deal with them something happens - just a hundred little, minor infractions that have piled up in my case. It's frustrating more than anything, but I thought mothers-to-be were supposed to avoid stress??? As of right now, they get 3 stars. I might change that if they improve after the next time I chat with Dr. Gentry, especially if they live up to the hype and get me pregnant!!!
