I met with Schnorr for a second opinion. He opened my chart, glanced at it for a few seconds, and before asking me any questions turned around and got a study from his desk. He proceeded to tell me there was a better chance of me having complications from IVF than for it to actually work. He said I had a 2% chance of bleeding out due to the procedures and a 1/2% chance I would get pregnant. He wasn’t concerned about me being able to carry or deliver just that it basically wasn’t worth his time because of the low probability IVF would work for me. I have several factors against me but he wasn’t even willing to give me a chance. He had the study on hand for women like me so he can turn us away. Of course I was devastated. I ended up finding a doc in Augusta, GA who was much more open and positive about helping me. Dr. Servy. I had heard Schnorr put a lot of emphasis on his stats but I met with him anyway since he was local for me. I guess what I heard was right.
I thought our second opinion meeting with him would be similar to the first group we saw, but it was so much better. They took the time to talk through the options and set up meetings with the nurse and the financial counselor. We left feeling confident about our choices.
