Dr. Coddington asked us to remain hopeful when there were many factors stacked against us and when others had recommended we move on to surrogacy. He altered our treatment protocol and it worked!

He hugged me on the day of transfer. He let me have emotions prior to the procedure. He spoke to my husband the way he should be - like he had been a part of wanting a baby for so long too.

Prior to seeking treatment at the Mayo Clinic, my husband and I had done 5 unsuccessful IUI cycles at a different Clinic. Having tried everything up to this point, IVF was our last hope to conceiving on our own. We met with Dr. Coddington on our first visit to the Mayo Clinic. After that first meeting, I knew there was no other place I would want to be while going through IVF. All of the failed attempts to getting pregnant before seeking help at the Mayo left me broken. I knew that IVF was our last chance and that weighed heavily on us. I was not very confident that IVF would work for us, but was trying to hold on to the tiny thread of hope that still remained inside of me. When we left the clinic that first day after meeting with Dr. Coddington, I felt the weight lift a little bit. It was the first time in a long time that I felt real genuine hope and I left with a smile on my face. Dr. Coddington did my tests leading up to the IVF cycle and my egg retrieval. I was so emotional and scared on my retrieval day. The pre-op nurse could tell that I was on edge and, for lack of a better word, freaking out. Dr. Coddington came in to check on me. Upon seeing how scared I was, he came over to the bed, held my hand and kept telling me that everything was going to be ok and that they were going to make this work for me. While in the OR he came over and leaned over the lights so all I could see was his face, and while I was slipping under the anesthesia he was holding my hand and repeating that everything would be ok. Dr. Coddington's kindness, positivity, and understanding were exactly what my husband and I needed in our time of fear, anger, and hopelessness. Everyday, I look at my daughter, and am forever grateful to Dr. Coddington and all of the staff that had a part in my IVF treatment.

He was very informative & took his time with us each time we had an appointment. He really cared how I was doing & was excited for us when we found out we were pregnant.
