Restricted shaving?

So I was speaking to my friend the other day, and she was telling me she feels very self-conscious of her legs because her mother doesn't let her shave them! She's allowed to shave anything else, but how can someone still rule over another's body, when said friend is 18 in two months?!

My question is, were you ever not allowed to shave something/will you restrict your kids on what they can shave?

(Btw, it's only her legs she isn't allowed to shave - her mother takes her to get them waxed).

Sounds like the mom is more concerned with the myth of hair growing back thicker after shaving. Or doesnt like the look of the hair growing back when shaved, and wants her daughter to get use to waxing. That's just a guess.

Sounds like her mum wants to get her into a good waxing routine so she won't have to worry about her leg hair hardly at all

If you shave then wax too soon the money you spend waxing is wasted... maybe she needs to wax more often if it's all growing in too fast? I never wax my legs or underarms anymore for this reason, no matter the claims of it growing in thinner mine didn't thin out after 10 years and I threw in the towel.

I was on the swim team in high school so I was allowed to shave everything. 😂 I don't understand the mom's restriction.

I wasn't allowed to shave until like sixth grade but I did it anyway. After I was allowed to, my parents never dictated what I shaved. I shave my legs, arms, armpits, belly strip and occasionally my nether regions. Lately I've been skipping days between shaves as I don't really care anymore. When my kid starts getting dark hair and becomes embarrassed about it or asks me, we'll discuss why she wants to and start with Nair or something like that

My mom never restricted me. It wasn't too big of a deal cause I wasn't a wild shaver I only shaved my pits and legs. But she did get on to me about shaving my thighs, saying I should never do that cause then the hair will grow back narly and thick. Well it didn't. It grew back very similar to my virgin thigh hair. I had to shave it! You can still see thigh hair when it gets long

Well that's really weird...the waxing but no shaving part, my dad did not want me to shave my legs forever! I think it was more once I didn't that I was "growing up" on him who knows!
