The way I knew I was ready for sex was I stopped dating for the first two years of high school. I was all in with God and I still am. I promised to wait for someone I loved. There ended up coming along this guy, two years younger than me who came to my church. We were friends for a year and a half before any moved were made. He had done a lot of things in his past, which I never knew I could look past. I genuinely love him. He wanted someone for life just like I did. He wanted something serious. We started dating. At first, I thought I wanted to wait for marriage. Which isn't wrong. But as time progressed, we grew closer. I knew I loved him. He means everything to me, and he treats me like a queen. He always made sure I was comfortable and never pushed anything. I feel so in love every time he's around and even at the not so glamouris times of our relationship, I could never see myself with anyone else. And I'm not justifying our sin for sleeping together out of marriage. We will answer for that, but he makes me so happy and personally I think we are bonded together, which is why I gave my virginity to him. 
As for the feeling, he had fingered me before and I was wet. It hurt when he pushed in but for no time at all. After that it felt really good for me. It didn't last very long though. 
The emotional aspect of it is, you may feel a little guilty if you are a Christian or your parents don't want you doing that. You will probably also feel a lot clingier and be more afraid to lose them. 
My advice is to take it easy, know you love him, know he loves you, know you trust each other, know this is something you wanna do, and make sure to be protected. Sex is a beautiful thing and you should share it with someone who means the world to you
