can my 4 month old baby eat gerber food?

my son turned 4 months on the 13th of december. he currently eats 6 oz of formula and now wants 8 oz. i heard it was way too much to give him 8 oz so instead i gave him gerber food. is he too early? im really scared i made a mistake!!

I wouldnt do baby food unless your ped recommended it. Even then, theres no guarantee your baby will want it. i’d just do more formula.

Their doctor asked me at 4 months if I was going to start. I told him I was wondering what the "thing to do" is. He said at 4 months they don't need it but some think it's good to help with allergy, he also said starting to early may be linked to childhood obesity. Starting at 6 months is recommended but somehow 4 months got out there. In the end it's your baby and you'll do what you think is good for your baby!

I would have to disagree with some of these comments. Just because he is four months doesn’t mean he is too young for solids. However, he has to be ready for it. And his doctor has to give him a green light. I started my daughter on solids at 4 months as well and she is enjoying it. It just all depends on the baby.
