a big family event that they just happen to be at, sure. I wouldn't avoid something or try to tell people "it's us or them", that's just not fair. 
now, if they put of the blue wanted to babysit, hell no.

Nope. I wont let my hubby's racist mother anywhere near my son. She's called my hubbyband I every name under the sun becuase we're an interracial couple. She knows literally nothing else about me or us. He cut her off well before my son was born. She can spew her ignorance towards me, but if ahe talked about my son, Jesus Himself wouldn't be able to save her 😐

I don’t let my mother in law around my children anymore after she physically and emotionally abused us. I don’t care if she loves her grandson, she is evil and toxic. She abused her own children, how will she not abuse her grandchildren too. Fuck that.

Not a chance am I letting my mother inaw near my child when we have one. She's done nothing but bitch and badmouth me to all and sundry (including my husband!) for the past decade. She's a bitter old bag who didn't even come to our wedding.

Probably not. Children learn by example. I wouldn’t want a toxic example around my child. Also - they fact that they haven’t even tried to have a relationship makes me wonder if they even want to be a part of babies life.
