Holiday

UPDATE - By chance found a cheaper flight last night (£437) So I booked it for 10 days in Portugal in August. He said “book it if you want” so I did. I need a holiday. I don’t ask for much. Not sure how he feels about it but I’ll be damned if I listen to him bitch about it. Our kids are 8 and 9 and I don’t want to live my life saving money so our kids have inheritance (a house etc). I love them and will leave them something but I’m not going to work myself into the ground so they have some cash when they are older. I wouldn’t expect my parents to and regularly say they should spend their money on whatever they want now they are retired.

Please don’t tell me people have it worse - I know they do but I’m entitled to feeling the way I feel.

I teach in the UK. I work during term time. I cannot have holidays in the term time.

I want to go on holiday. I’m sick of these 4 walls. The boring routine. Work, kids, home, cook, sleep. Thats all I do.

My husband is in the army. He travels around the country. Does parachute jumps in San Diego. Etc.

I found cheap flights to go to Portugal £25 each! (my parents have a house there ) the problem is getting back in time for the start of school it’s £200/£300 each. So I searched and searched and found a way to get home cheaper using connecting flights.

My husband said no. He said no last year - that we couldn’t afford it and let’s save up. Well apparently we still cannot go and he doesn’t see the point in going on holiday it’s a waste of money.

It’s been 2 years and I’m exhausted and burned out. I’m sick of this life and I need a break. I can’t take another summer holiday of nothing, 6 weeks of staring at these 4 walls.

He said last year we would travel round the uk a bit and we did nothing. Not one single thing. He however went all over the place with work.

Just fed up he’s said no again. Part of me wants to book the flights out with the kids.
