Name Change?

Update: Thank you everyone for the show of support. I was really surprised by the number of people commenting.

For those of you suggesting I use my middle name- I recognize that that would be an easier solution, but my middle name is also supposed to be after my dad, so I don’t really want to go with that. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

And for those of you mentioning the very classy and kind Briannas you’ve met, I recognize that I’ve only met a handful of Briannas, and that there are thousands of us out there. It’s just a trend I’ve noticed in the people I’ve met, and so it’s what I think of when I hear the name. Also, as I said, it’s after my dad, who I don’t speak to, so I want to change it for that reason. But again, thank you for your input!

My name is Brianna. And I HATE it. I have never met another Brianna who wasn’t trash and my father’s name was Brian, so I was named after him. But my father and I don’t talk and haven’t since I was 16.

I used to always think about changing my name, but not seriously. The last few years, though, I’ve been thinking a bit more about it. I guess it doesn’t seem that crazy to change your name at 26. I’ve just never felt like my name fits me, and it’s to the point where I actually dread giving my name out at a coffee shop or something like that.

I think my biggest concern with it is that other people won’t take it seriously, or that they won’t respect my wishes and will continue to call me by my original name. I don’t know, what do you all think? Crazy or not?
