Mild contractions: why did your feel like?

I woke up this morning with what might be mild contractions, their similar to Braxton Hicks but when they happen I’m having a slight burning sensation/period cramp type pain in my lower abdomen. With my last baby my water broke and I had immediate hard and painful diarrhea pain type contractions so I’ve never experienced light ones before. Does this sound like early labor?

I've been having bad cramps (period like) in my lower back and lower abdomen since I was 33 weeks. I'm now 39 weeks and 4 days.. I'm getting restless with it now. Also when I time my 'contractions' they are coming every 5 minutes last over a minute but hospital don't want me in until I'm in pain, this has been going on for weeks now!

Early labor is when your cervix is opening from 1cm-3cm feels like period like cramps. As you progress from 4cm onward they become more intense which women start timing and tracking. This is from research that I've done... So yes it's early on labor.

My early labor started out feeling like light period cramps in my lower abdomen/upper thighs. I didn’t think I was really in labor because I didn’t know what to expect! It got worse over the day.

39 wk 3 days and have Felt this for maybe two weeks and each day they get slightly more intense and lower and lower down. Like period cramps like u said. All my dr said is that it’s “helping” get things to progress but that’s about it. The past two days more I’ve felt it stronger so we will see.... trying to be hopeful also!
