😔💔Family drama on Christmas Eve...
Please someone tel me what we should do...
This is my second Christmas with my husband. I am 33 weeks pregnant with our first baby, a boy.
We are visiting at his parents house, like we did last year. This year is a bit different.
We visited them about a week ago because my husband had to pick his dad up from the airport at Chicago (about 8 hours round trip) so, being as pregnant as I am, decided to stay behind at his parents house to hang out with his mom while he went on the trip. His mom had said while I was over not even 1 hour into my husband leaving “you guys should have waited to have a baby”. This made me feel very awkward and unwelcome. I love my son and we were TTC for over 9 months, my baby boy is my miracle..
Tonight after we ate dinner and exchanged gifts (we do that on Christmas eve instead of Christmas Day) I sat down and hung out for a while but the chairs were very uncomfortable so I found the most comfortable chair in the house to sit on, which happened to be upstairs.. all I hear is my husbands dad saying “is she okay? Why is she up there? By herself” I told him and my husband told him SO many times because my butt hurts and I just need a comfortable place to stay.
I came back downstairs after a while and sat down as he started a movie. About 30 minutes into the movie I got up to put my hair in a ponytail to get it out of my face... they have stairs so I was walking slowly as to be careful. I pause on the third step because I heard his dad quietly speaking to my husband and said “what is wrong with her? She’s acting like she’s crippled. Your mother was so active up until labor and our family friend is just as big as her and acts fine. She’s acting like she’s crippled”
I finished walking upstairs and I cried.. a lot. I tried to pull it together and now I’m sitting on the couch downstairs and I just want to go home, but we had planned to spend the night. Me and my husband are sitting next to each other not knowing what to do because for Christmas they JUST gave us a bunch of baby stuff and some money to help get baby things.. I really feel so unwelcome..
Any advice please.
