Whole milk or reduced fat?

I read that the AAP recommends whole cows milk starting at a year but reduced fat milk (2%) is better if there is a family history of obesity or heart disease. Has anyone else heard this or had it recommended to them? Is it another area where some doctors are giving an old outdated recommendation of every kid needing whole milk vs reduced fat?

I’d prefer to have my daughter drinking 2% because most of my family is overweight and both sides have heart issues. I also think whole milk is gross and personally drink fat free milk myself.
