Marine boyfriend

Hi everyone. Im 17 and met my boyfriend two months ago. He left for marine bootcamp two weeks ago and his parents are the only ones that have received a letter from him. In that letter he asked that no one wrote him letters and that he would only be writing one more letter if he had time. Before he left he promised me and everyone else letters every week and that he wanted our letters to help him through it. Now I don’t know what to do because I haven’t received anything from him. Does anyone have any advise for getting through these 13 weeks without any contact from him. Also, my mom asked me if him and I were even dating at this point.
