Am I wrong ?

I have a question, idk if I’m being a brat or not but someone asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I gave them 2 options but instead they ignored what I told them and got me something I didn’t ask for and don’t like.  Am I wrong?

Well I mean they are buying it but then again why ask if they aren't gonna get one of the things they know you'll love

No that doesn’t make you a brat. I think a lot of people would be feeling that way if that person ASKED what you wanted then got you something different. But it happens.

It depends. Did they put zero thought into what they ultimately bought you? Could what you asked for have been out their budget or hard to find? I mean I do the same thing sometimes but then end up buying something else because I think they might like that.

Just be grateful. Some people don’t get anything for their birthdays.

I would say thank you, and move on. Depending on what you said you wanted, they might not have been able to afford it, or the stores didn’t have it, etc. Who knows the reason why. 
I find the body and how it works interesting, and so my now-husband (boyfriend at the time) got me an anatomy book for Valentine’s Day. 😂 I just said thank you, looked at it for a few minutes, and then put it on my bookshelf where it has stayed. It might not be my favorite thing in the world, but I’m glad that he thought of me. I don’t think it’s wrong to not like something, as long as you show gratefulness.
