Baby not affectionate

My baby isn’t very affectionate. 6 months old. Not really any voluntary cuddles unless he’s around someone unfamiliar then he will turn into me and hide his face.

If he gets hurt in whatever way he will cry and if I pick him up and try to hold him close he like turns and pushes away and tries to climb me to get away.

It hurts my heart so much because I want to be his comfort and safe place and of course enjoy baby cuddles!
