Co-worker?

Has anyone ever dated a coworker you work in close proximity with? Did it work? My male coworker and I have discovered we have feelings for each other do in just curious.
Some back story: he and I have been aides in the same classroom for almost a year, this school year we have been closer. As we’ve had to work together a lot more with the type of kids we have this year. About a month ago feeling sparked and our texting went from more work only to more personal. We’ve already crossed that line to sex and dating but really looking for encouraging stories that it can work. We do keep it professional at work.

I started at my current job - at entry level, in Oct 2014. There was a guy there who’d started a month before me. He was quite quiet and awkward around me but more silly and talkative around others.
Wasn’t long before he was being goofy with me, making excuses to talk to me and be around me, throwing empty boxes at me or balled up paper towels to get my attention and asked for my number and if I wanted to meet up when we were on a day off work together. To be honest, by that point, it was already clear Mr Subtle(!) was interested 🤣 but then started to get flirty with me
I made him wait a little bit because I still didn’t really know him that well but in the end we did start dating. 
I got promoted and became one of his line managers. Everyone was fine with it because I made sure I gave him no special treatment at work and he understood that at work, I was one of his managers, not his girlfriend. My personality is a little more dominant between the two of us anyway, so it didn’t make much difference. 
I then got put in line for another promotion (to the role I’m currently in) which involved 3-4 months of training first. While I was in training, we got engaged. He also found another job as it didn’t seem like he was going to be promoted at my place any time soon. 
I’m still at the same place and they are wanting me to move up again - again I will have to do min 3-4 months training, but I will then be a store manager. He found yet another/ better job and is an assistant manager where he is now. We got married in 2016. 
I’m hesitant to commit to anything right now as I’m 20 weeks pregnant with our first son and (hopefully!) nearing maternity leave. Just waiting for my certificate to come through from my doctor so I can give it to HR and book everything.
But yes, it CAN work out - my advice is to just be professional at work, no excuses and don’t lie to anyone. Be up front.

Yes! Been together almost eight years, married for three, and just had our first baby. 
In my opinion you just have to be mature about it, consider what the consequences would be if you broke up, and also work policy. Our job at the time didn’t mind as long as neither of us was the other one’s manager. We both have different jobs now but we met at the one we had together.

I married a co-worker, we've been together 4 years. Kept it a secret from other staff at first until we knew for sure we were serious about each other. I never thought I would be with someone I worked with but it's great to come home and be able to talk about the ups and downs of the day with someone who can relate to what you are saying.

Me and my hubby are both in the Royal Air Force, we met in the Middle East 5 1/2 years ago,  worked in the same office for 4 years, married for 2 1/2 years and now we have a beautiful 12 week old daughter - it can work, I think as long as its colleagues rather than boss and employee x

I have mixed feelings... I dated my coworker for several years. Things were great while we worked together but as soon as he transferred to another facility we hardly saw each other and things just fell apart.
