too much video games — am I overreacting?

Hey everyone. 
Ever since my boyfriend and I met Ive known about his love for video games, but I feel like lately they’ve become more of a priority to him. 
All he’s done all week is play Minecraft (I feel at this point it’s necessary to mention I’m 18 and he’s 19). Seriously, every waking hour he’s been at his computer playing it. It’s at a point where he doesn’t text me back for hours on end because he’s so busy with the game. 
Last night I got really upset because I called him to facetime and he answers with “Hey baby, the boys and I are gonna try to defeat the ender dragon tonight so I’m gonna be afk. Bye baby, I love you!”
(afk = away from keyboard) pretty much saying “I’m gonna be busy on my game tonight so if you text me I’m not gonna answer. Bye!”
I wanna say something to him about it but he’s told me his ex would always get mad and yell at him for “choosing video games over her.” I don’t feel like he chooses games over me, but I do feel like I’m being pushed to the side sometimes. Am I overreacting? I want to talk to him but I don’t want to upset him, but I also feel like he should make more time for me than these pointless games.

Instead of getting upset, take an interest. My man is also a gamer. Not so much with Minecraft but other games like Warframe. Instead of being upset by how much he plays, I take an interest in his games. I know so much about warframe and the storyline it’s not even funny, and I’ve never played. That way when he includes me. If he gets a new warframe he’ll send me pictures or videos. If there’s an update to the story he’ll tell me all about it. And that’s with any game he plays. He does the same with me and Sims. His face lights up when I remember something he told me about a game or I ask him how the game is going. It brings me into that part of his life and he loves that I want to be.

Honestly, yes, I think you are overreacting. It’s an adjustment sure but that’s his hobby. He’s playing a video game with his friends when he could be off doing God knows what. My boyfriend is a gamer too. He plays pretty much anytime he’s not working or doing something but I don’t mind. He has his hobby and it frees me up to do my own thing. We live together though so it’s a bit different.
