6 month savings

So i figured up for my husband and I to pay all of our bills for 6 months we would need 10,000. We live in Tennessee btw. So I am wondering what other peoples 6 month living expenses would look like? I know there are a lot of different factors that play into it. My husband and I are trying to save up 6 months worth of living expenses so then we can pay an extra house payment every month and pay our house off way quicker than what the mortgage is. I have figured up that if I can get 10 more piano students online then I will have enough for the savings and to start paying extra on the house. Just have to work on getting those 10 students that I need.
