Aunt Jemima Syrup picture and name of brand

Elena

Just saw this, Quaker Oats ( owned by Pepsi), just decided to remove the image and name of Aunt Jemima from all of the products.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I see both sides, and I suppose it could be seen as a minor thing but it’s still interesting! Her real name was Nancy Green ( if I recall correctly) and she became a household name from being the original face of this brand. Many people are saying the only change should be to put her real name on the bottle and maybe update the picture again. Others are saying to remove it all together. What does everyone think? Is keeping it racist? Is removing the representation racist? Or is none of it bad and we should worry about other things?

I’d love to hear your opinions!! Stay healthy everyone!
