Should I give him another chance?

My ex and i are seeing each other again, and after a month of going on dates, I tell him that I want to know what his intentions are in seeing me.

(I noticed that things have changed because of how unamicable the breakup went down, though I did not mention this to him. We both don't have a spark anymore, and noticed that we are building up walls to protect ourselves and therefore appear disinterested sometimes on our dates. But we still see each other and like each other, and occasionally get physical.)

I told him I know that things are moving too fast (physically) and I do not want a friends with benefits relationship. I am looking for something serious everytime I date a person, and asked why he is seeing me. He said he likes me, but that I like him more than he likes me, and said that we did not work in the past.

I immediately told him in honesty that me liking him more is not true. I told him that although i want something serious, I am not sure about him at all because of the past, and don't want to get hurt again.

He responded and said that we shouldn't see each other anymore then because people don't change and that, based on our multiple breakups in the past, that something is going to go wrong and we're going to breakup again. He tried to stay away from me after the breakup, but he says he is weak to me and couldn't help it. Although he thinks that we should stop seeing each other,, he doesn't want to and is willing to try. He said he can't forget about the past either and that what is in the past is in the past.

I told him that remembering and acknowledging the past is important so that we do not make the same mistakes again. Told him I was willing to try to and that I wanted to thank him for his honesty and receptiveness to my feelings.

Should I give this another chance? Or do you think he is being disingenuous. I haven't been sleeping for the past few days because I've been so anxious over whether I should find a guy who truly wants to pursue me with no doubts
