How does one look after a 3 year old?

My bfs mum is sick suddenly and am going to help him babysit his brother. Does anybody have tips? I have no experience!

Make up stories with his favourite toys. 
If its a nice day go for a walk and talk about the animals and vehicles you see.
Limit sugar and sweets (but still treat him). 
If he wants a nap let him. 
Cbeebies is a good channel for helping his learning. 
If he is 3 does he have a nursery placement? If you are in the UK he should qualify for 15 free hours a weeks so it might be worth having a look.
Does he wear nappies or use a potty? 
Expect tantrums, they all do it.

Play cars,  dinosaurs,  go in the back yard and play with him.  YouTube has coco melon,  story bots,  peppa pig on there. Ask your bf what does his little brother like to eat?  What time does he need to be put kn the potty?  Make sure he has his sippu cup filled ( what can and cannot drink)  
When playing just use your imagination.

I use to take care of a 3 year old boy and various other ages. I was a nanny. Sometimes they don’t want to do what you want them to do, like get changed for school. I had to challenge him to a race to his room to get him in there. If he has a routine I would stick with it. I had him help me make his lunch. He was responsible for getting some of the ingredients and we made food together. He had a designated area to stand or sit so he could watch and be part of it but not be in danger of knives or the stove. If he doesn’t know to pick up his toys, you can suggest you pick up the toys together. We did things together and my 3 yr old really enjoyed being a part of it all. Some kids are easier than others. Find out his normal schedule and try to stick with it. Play toys together. Ask him what his favorite toy is and play. It can be a game of distraction sometimes. Good luck!

I have 3 year old twin boys and they love to play outside,Riding their bikes, chalk, kicks balls, when we play inside we color, play play dough, do puzzles. We build with blocks, play with cars. If they watch tv they like YouTube “coco melon, and blippi. 
Kids that age will just show you what they want to play with.
