I live in California ..  an expensive part too .. childcare is expensive. My sister in law is going back to work and asked me if I can babysit her 3 month old son full time 40 hours a week for $100 a week .. now thinking about it, it doesn’t seem like much considering it is a full time job. What do you think? Should I ask for more or just take $100

That’s $2.50 an hour. Family or not, she can fuck right off. That’s ridiculous. I understand accepting less than family, but I wouldn’t accept any less than $400 a week, and that’s seriously pushing it.

I pay my babysitter, who is also family, 100 a week for 10 hours. That is NOT enough. I only pay that little because she's my boyfriend's aunt and refuses to take more.

I thought about hiring my cousin to provide childcare and the monthly pay would have been $1,200 as a family discount + she would be living with us rent free and we would also pay for her car insurance and phone. So that worked out to about $300 per week + the other benefits.

She is hilarious. I wouldn’t give up my freedom to what I want when I want with my own child for less than regular daycare cost. I paid 550/week in San Diego and would tell her I need the same. It could be a huge benefit to her to have you watch the baby, but she has to pay for that benefit, that doesn’t come free.

We pay $286 for daycare per week, full time. In California, I wouldn’t accept any less than that. I live in a small city on the east coast, but your prices are far more expensive. $100 is just insulting quite frankly.

That is what newborns fees are weekly here in south ga. 0-2 $100 per week, 2-5 $90 a week, and any after school kid is $50. That's the main fees at all 6 daycares in the county. Family usually charges less around here. But if you're in an expensive part and she makes good I'd ask for more!
