GD glucometer problems 😣

So I just got diagnosed with GD last week and had to switch insurances this week, so I had to get a new meter because my new insurance doesn’t pay for the test strips that go with my old meter. The test strips are VERY expensive to pay cash for, like 200 dollars for 20 days worth. I used my new meter for the first time last night and this morning and I’m pretty sure it’s terribly inaccurate! It measures 20 points lower than my old one. I have Tricare so they only pay for one brand of testing supplies. Anyone else with GD have this problem? Is there a less expensive OTC meter and strips you recommend?
