i think i messed up today 🤦‍♀️

TL;DR i bought off of a baby registry for someone i no longer talk to.

so i went to basic with this guy YEARS ago lol. we have names next to each other in the alphabet so throughout BCT we were always with each other and became close friends during that time. after basic we ended up going to AIT on the same base, two different programs though so we rarely seen each other. we texted here and there, i graduated my program before him so i was no longer allowed to contact him until he graduated his. found out the day he graduated because i ended up checking his mom and sisters IDs and we hit it off instantly lol. he had messaged me after that saying his mom really liked me and wanted to invite me to thanksgiving that year, he also told me he had orders to another state and was leaving that night. so naturally our friendship came to an end, and that was our last actual text conversation, besides sending a few “happy birthday/holiday” messages to each other over the years.

fast forward to today. i’m married and have two sons(7yrs old and 2.5months old), he’s newly married and they’re expecting their first this december !

i’m very excited for them, he was such a great guy and judging by his and his wife’s social media, they’re both lovely people. he posted a gender reveal pic and linked was their registry, ofc me, being someone who’s very financially stable(and a little bit baby obsessed lol) decided to take a look and see if there was anything i wouldn’t mind purchasing.

i bought three things off their registry that i think are baby must haves.

is that weird ? i’ve never met or talked to his wife and i literally haven’t spoken to this guy in years- i feel like i may have over stepped but then i think if they didn’t want people buying from it then they wouldn’t have posted it

i do realize i may also be over thinking this whole thing and turning it into something it’s not.

if i’m being honest (and a tad pathetic) i don’t socialize with anyone anymore since i’ve retired from the military. the only people i talk to are my husband, my kids, and my grandma, and i’m not even exaggerating. this app is the most interaction i have with other people 😅 so i really can’t tell if buying from the registry is socially acceptable or not
