Is this really a thing?

I just read an article saying that some schools only allow kids to go bathroom 3-4 times a semester. I am no professional, but I’m pretty sure that is detrimental to their health. Please tell me it’s not true.

I had teachers who wouldn’t let us use the bathroom during class at all. They’d say that’s what time between classes is for. So ridiculous

My daughter had a teacher a few years ago tell her “you already went to the bathroom, I don’t think you need to go again you’re fine”
It might not have a set limit to it, but there are teachers who are sticklers about it and it drives me nuts.

When I was in highschool teachers rarely let you use the bathroom during classroom hours. You were supposed to use it on breaks between every class. This is probably their expectation as well. One time I had to demand that I'm on my period and I'm going. Another time I had my dad call and tell them. Because at that time my flow was heavy.

I've had teachers give us two bathroom breaks a semester. So yes it's true more so in middle and highschool though. Given I graduated highschool in 2017 so I'm betting it's possible it's changed but for me it was true.

I know it’s a thing for some teachers…never heard it that bad. I take my 3rd graders about every hour and the only time I question it is if they went and then ask almost immediately…even then I usually let them. Its hard as a teacher to find balance between allowing bathroom breaks and trying to teach/keep everybody learning but 3-4 times a semester is insane if it’s true.
