Sex in 2nd trimester

I just got the okay to have sex after a long 8 weeks of none, but much to my surprise, it was awful. It was so painful that I wanted to cry. It stung pretty bad. I know nothing is wrong with me because I've been checked every time I go to the doctor. Any ideas??? My husband is not happy and neither am I.
