Couples counseling??

Question

Has anyone tried couples counseling? If so, did it help your relationship any? Would you try it again? Would you recommended it to a friend if you knew they were having problems in their relationship? Anything you would do differently?

Any sort of counseling is wonderful, I actually wish everyone would do it. Both my husband and I are extremely happy and we are both in individual counseling. It is nice to have an "advocate" of sorts. Counseling isn't just for if you have "problems", I truly believe it's helpful for everyone! And yes we've been to couples counseling and would like to get back into it just to reap the benefits.

Yes we tried it. It didn't work. It totally sucked. What did work is us joining martial arts and beating on each other in the dojo. We both have t been happier since.

Yes! I think it's had a great role in the reason I'm still married. It's a wonderful way to learn tools, communication, and how to have order to your fights.

Like any form of therapy sometimes it's hard, REALLY hard, and just plain uncomfortable but it's worth it in the end. If you try it, don't forget not every therapist is the right fit for you guys as a couple. It's okay to "shop" for the perfect one. They're there for you so take advantage of every ounce of help you can glean :)

Recently stopped going. I loved it, my husband not so much. I think he realized that 'blame' is not on one person. However we did grow from the experience  and really applied the things we learned into our relationship. I would recommend and do it again.
