Missed miscarriage

Hi all. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience...this is my first pregnancy, and we were over the moon to get BFP on first cycle. However on Wednesday (10 weeks and 1 day) I had a spot of bright red blood when I went to the toilet. I hadn't had any spotting previously so was worried. I went to EPU for a scan that day. They struggled with u/s which immediately had me worried...so they then did a transvaginal u/s. After about 3 mins of the consultant squinting at the screen she told me they could see a fetus but that it stopped growing at 7 to 8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. DH and I were devastated. We were given 3 options - wait and let nature take its course, D & C or medical management. I chose medical management and after what has felt like the longest few days ever I went back to hospital today for the medication and to be admitted to the ward for the day. When I got there I asked for a second scan first to make absolutely sure as I have heard on rare occasions miscarriages can be misdiagnosed. I'm not holding out much hope but just need to be sure. Frustratingly they couldn't fit me in for a scan so sent me home to go back in the morning for a scan and then the medication. So...here we are, still waiting. No bleeding at all since that spot on Wednesday. Supposedly my baby passed away 3 to 4 weeks ago now but still nothing is happening. I'm so upset and I suppose I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation. Did you get a second scan? Which procedure did you opt for? This is all so scary.
