Why do some doctors

Question

Tell pregnant women it's okay to still smoke cigarettes because quitting cold turkey can put a lot of stress on the baby? Is it true? My doctor says smoking is a big no no and applaud me for quitting cold turkey. But a couple told me that it's dangerous to do that as told by they're doctor so she continued to smoke. I've never been to a doctor who encouraged me to keep smoking. They're always against it. I just don't get it, has there been research on this or something?

I swear they say that to make pregnant smoking women feel better about smoking. Quit cold turkey! It's ridiculous to continue to smoke while pregnant.

It's not that they're against quitting. If you're a heavy smoker.. I smoked a pack a day.. They discourage quitting cold turkey because of the stress it puts on your body and can put on the baby... They DO, however, recommend cutting back gradually, or switching to a vapor cig to try and quit.

Quitting cold turkey is bad. They try to do the best thing possible which is to cut back gradually

I suspect it has to do with different schools of thought and reading different research. Or reading all the literature and making their own judgement calls.
