Can I please get some advice

So I had to have an emergency c-section to deliver my son who was born early, I was almost 33 weeks when my water began leaking, I was admitted to the hospital where the doctor discovered that my son was breached so I had to undergo the cesarean.. As soon as my son turned 1 I signed up at the local gym, as I want to lose the overlap of "baby fat".. the first time I tried to do sit up or any of the other lower ab exercises I had this very sharp almost ripping like pain across the scar and I lightly bled for 2 days ( like the kind I have when I have my pap smear done).. my gyn wasn't much help when I asked for his advice except to keep trying... but the pain is almost unbearable, I'd rather have labor pains again then feel what I feel when I try to work out. It's been 6 months since I first started and the pain is the same. I just want an almost flat tummy..
