If you can get in a good area, yes you could make it one. My district pays 75 a day before taxes and the hours are 7:10-2:15. If you don't have to do any planning or anything extra- it's decent money if you can work everyday. But some of the wealthier districts you can get $100-125 a day and if you consistently work in the same district, sometimes they bump up the pay after 30 or 60 days to a higher pay scale. Right now in Michigan, many districts are short subs - we have unfilled sub positions at least once a week because we just don't have enough people.

you can do it if you're extremely flexible, are good at handling stress, and have amazing classroom management skills. it would help to be in a good district. I'm a teacher but I've never had to sub before. I don't think I would want to!
