learning to walk in shoes

For Mom's with this experience, was it easy for your child to learn how to walk in shoes after learning to walk barefoot/sockfooted? Any tips and tricks if it's a bit difficult??

My twins are learning to walk barefooted/sockfooted until I feel comfortable letting them walk in stores or where they'll need shoes on. They have a few pair already and I'm wondering if I should let them get the feel of walking in them every once in a while??
