Married ladies: do you have children?

I am posting for several reasons. I am in the “no, do not plan to” category. It’s not a highly esteemed place to be in the Christian community. 
I wanted to see where everyone else is as far as motherhood is concerned. 🙂

It's definitely tough to feel like all Christian women are expected to only be wives and mothers! While I appreciate my church's upholding this as a noble profession in a very anti-child city (literally more dogs than children per capita), I was also encouraged by a podcast from Jen Wilkin called "Raising Daughters Beyond Stereotypes" that we need Christian women as positive influences in so many professions! I've also had several friends that went from "no way" to "I want kids NOW" in a very short span of time. So I'd say work with honor in whatever you do, and if God wants you to have kids, He can give you that desire crazy fast! So don't worry about it if that's not your desire now, or ever. 😊

The bible does say to be fruitful and multiply but that is now law. Not everyone is destined to be parents. The Lord gave each person a spiritual gift. Teaching or giving, evangelism for example. If you don't want to have children it's ok.

There was no category for someone who already has a child but trying for another one. 
The road isn’t easy and would be lying if I said it was but as a Christian, we have something others don’t have right now and that’s Faith in our God for the impossible.

Paul didn't have kids, John the Baptist didn't have kids, Jesus didn't have kids. I think the Bible actually has a lot of good things to say for people who choose not to have kids, especially if you use that freedom to serve God and your community in ways that might be harder with a family.

As of right now my husband and i do not have children but we plan to try in the future. We want our living situation and financial situation to be different before that season in life begins for us!
