Female friends

I just wanted to know your opinions on your boyfriend having close female friends. My boyfriend has 2 close female friends. 1 closer then the other. The thing is both friends are also ex girlfriends. The one that’s closer is more like his best friend he’s known her for going on 10 years and they’ve gotten very close. She lives in california and we are in NY. They know everything about each other, and tell each other just about anything. My issue is I feel like he can’t be completely open about her and I get it, because of past relationships he’s been in when he would open up about her they would feel a way about it and things would go south from there. I also feel like he won’t open up completely to her about me. Like he thinks she won’t want to hear it or feel a way about it and to me best friends shouldn’t be feeling a way about a relationship if they see you’re happy.

The second one he has no problems opening up about. She lives not to far. They don’t hangout really even tho he’s brought up hanging out he hasn’t cause he thinks I won’t like it. This friend I don’t really have a problem with, I don’t see any romantic kind of connection between them and he can talk about her and not take it any defensive way like he would with the first best friend. No issues there
