Bed Sharing
I just want to hear everyone's opinion on bed sharing, since it seems like such a controversial topic between parents. Before I had my son, I SWORE he would never sleep in our bed. But by the end of the first week, I was exhausted. He hated being in the bassinet and would never spend more than 2 hours at a time in it at night. I was exhausted, to the point where I cried my eyes out because I was just SO tired. So one night, I put him into our bed. I nursed him until he fell asleep, and that was the first night I got more than 4-5 hours of sleep. He woke up to nurse, and all I had to do was pop a boob in his mouth, and he was good to go. He has been sleeping with us every night since, and we all sleep great. We make sure to keep any blankets below his waist and ours, and there is plenty of room for him, especially since most nights, it's just me and him since his dad works graveyard. Even though people look at bed sharing in an extremely negative light, I know my child is safe. Hell, even as a child, I wouldn't even roll over my teddy bears. I NEVER change positions in bed without waking up first. Never have. Also, the U.S. has the lowest bed sharing rates, yet the highest rate of SIDS. That said, discuss!
