I need your help
For about 9 months now I’ve had these pains Doctors don’t know what they are, they are completely baffled at this point but I know that I can’t be the only person going through this.
9 months ago I started the get pains half way through my cycle to my period then it would stop until half way through to my next cycle and it would start again. This lasted two cycles I thought it was just PMS and I thought nothing of it until the third cycle.
This is where things took a turn the pain stayed but it felt like mild cramping pain but paracetamol wasn’t doing anything to numb the pain, so I just got on with it.
I went to see my doctor at this point about it and they thought it was IBS so I was put on medication for IBS which didn’t sort out any of the pain. A few days later I started to bleed after sex and sex itself was so painful me and my boyfriend had to stop half way through because of how painful it was.
After being on the IBS medication I started a new job and it was my second shift later that day, I was on the bus coming home from college and this pain flared up to the point I burst out crying on the bus home and I got off at my boyfriends house instead of waiting till my stop and made my way to his house where I lay on his couch until my mam could pick me up and take me to hospital.
So my mam took me to the hospital where I got seen to straight away because all I could do was cry and scream in pain, they gave me codeine to try and sent me home no scans to try and find out what was wrong just a blood and urine test and that was it.
I can’t remember much of the only week I was on codeine because it made me so drowsy that I couldn’t react to my pain but I was still in the same pain from the hospital but instead of it being a cramping pain it was just constant nothing I did made it better or worse, that week I stayed off college and work and just slept none stop I can remember feeling trapped inside my because everything was going on around me but I couldn’t react to it. I didn’t think the pain could get worse but I was wrong.
I ended up coming off the codeine and trying to control my pain naturally but I would end up having one day where I could cope with the pain then 3 days where I would be stuck in bed unable to walk. So I went back to the doctors to try and get different painkillers where they put me on tramadol and also requested and ultrasound to try and find out what was going on so the tramadol did wonders for about a month or two when I was taking 1, 5 times a day. So later that month I went for the scan and no one told me what they could see but I knew just by the looks on their faces that it wasn’t good. The day after I got a call from my GP saying that they found a cyst on my right ovary and that it was nothing to worry about. So I went to the doctors the day after and she said it was about 7-8cm. I felt a sense of relief to at least know what was going on and why I was in pain, the GP said give it another month or so and hopefully it will clear itself up but to be on the safe side she made me a gynaecologist appointment for 2 months time.
As time when on the pains got worse I ended up in the back of 2 ambulances because I was crippled with pain even tho I was still on tramadol and paracetamol also in this time I lost my job because I was in so much pain they saw me as a hazard for the job I was in and they couldn’t take the risk.
I went with my mam for a Doctors appointment for more painkillers and my GP had said in a previous appointment that if i was struggling which I was to keep my pain under control she would look into bringing the appointment forward. So she rang up the gynaecology department about the appointment and they said if I wasn’t coping to go back to A&E, my mam was at her final straw at this point because her little girl is in pain and to her it felt like people were ignoring it and all she could do was stand by and watch. This is about the 6-7 month of me being in pain crying and screaming all the time in public or at work in college and she would have to come and get me or follow behind an ambulance to the hospital so she bundled me into the car and drove me to A&E.
When we got there she said that the doctor was told by gyne to bring me here so we waited for about 3 hours until the doctor took us into a side room and did all the blood tests and urine samples, then a nurse came in to put a permanent needle thing into my arm this time we knew something was different. A nurse came in to give me morphine which caused me to be pain free for the first time since this all happened, then I got taken up to a ward where they wanted me to stay overnight but instead they did another scan and they found out the cyst was bigger this time it was 9-10cm. The Doctors were worried at this point that they would have to operate but they decided to give it 6 weeks and see if it starts to shrink they gave me another drug called diclofenac to take with my paracetamol and tramadol, I was pain free for a week and a half before the pain started to creep back again.
So after the 6 weeks of waiting I had the scan done the pain was still getting worse it was becoming harder to get myself dressed, I couldn’t go to the toilet properly because it was so painful to push so I was purposely giving myself the runs so I wouldn’t be in more pain than I already was. So when I had the scan done the woman looked shocked and confused, then looked over at me and asked how big the cyst was and I told her last time they checked it was 9-10 cm. She then went on to say that it looked as if there was never a cyst at all, a mass of 9-10cm disappeared in 6 weeks gone!! But my pains were getting worse and no one knew how or why.
That brings us to this month where I have a new type of pain that physically brings me to my knees in an instant and the best way to describe it is as if someone has punched me in the vagina straight up to the top of my uterus but I still have the pain in my lower abdomen all the time it never goes. I have been pain free once since I had morphine and it was recently when I was on holiday and I spent a full day in the room because of the pain. A little voice in my head said enough is enough and I took 3 tramadol and 1 diclofenac and my paracetamol and for 1 hour I was completely pain free I felt amazing then I slept the rest of the day.
Also I nearly forgot when I went to the gynaecology appointment the gynaecologist insisted I just had painful periods nothing more, that went down a storm with my mam, so we’re sort of stuck with what to do because maybe there was a cyst but that wasn’t the cause of the pain and now we don’t know what’s wrong or how to cure it.
So I urge anyone who has be through a similar thing to contact me especially if you have any ideas of what this could be because it has quite literally ruined my life and this is the shortened down version, I will be so great full for any help as I am basically desperate at this point xxx
