Should women receive jail time for falsely accusing a man of rape? READ FIRST

Several months ago a woman in Connecticut was sentenced to at least one year in prison after falsely accusing two men of raping her. (I thought it was fake news but after I saw multiple sources I thought I would post.) I thought it was genuinely interesting debate because some are saying that the punishment wasn’t enough, some are saying it’s too far, and others are saying that civil suit against the false accuser should handle it. Just to clarify, the reason why some people are saying the punishment is too much is because the men she accused never did any jail time. What do you think why?
