Wait & See?

I’ve begged my husband for the past year to help more and act like he cares. Communication, nagging, vagina bribes, you name it I’ve tried it. Pretty much goes over like a lead balloon. Anyway we got sitters for all 5 kids this weekend so that we can go camping together and have alone time, which hasn’t happened in 2 years. I’m to the point I’m ready to separate. But I thought I’d wait and see if this alone time does us any good. If we have a great time, come home and nothing improves should I ask him to leave? (House is mine it was inherited.)
To add I wouldn’t be springing this on him. I told him yesterday I was about ready to separate if we can’t improve things.

My parents divorced and were happier and on better terms when they were separated.... 
Definitely do what you can to get it back on track, but life’s too short to be stuck in a marriage neither of you are happy in, especially if it shows no sign of changing.

I don’t believe in divorce unless cheating is happening, so I’m going to tell you that just because marriage seems hard and your husband is failing you...that’s not a reason for a divorce. That’s a reason to work at it and get counseling. If he refuses to go to counseling, go alone. Marriage is for life; you for better or for worse we’re your vows if you took any.

Idk what effort you've put in so far, (counseling?) But do as much as you can. Then leave. I don't but the bullpoopie about sticking it out because marriage is sacred blah blah blah...  Life is to short to spend it miserably with someone who doesn't care enough to try. We die alone. You don't owe him anything.

If your husband is willing to put the effort and see a couples therapist then good, at least he’s showing you that he wants this as badly as you. If you’re putting all the effort to try and work things out and no matter what you do he doesn’t show any improvement or interest in making it work than maybe it would be for the best to separate.. even if just for a little while, maybe in doing so he’ll realize what he’s losing. Life is way too short to stay with someone who doesn’t show love and appreciation towards you.
