Why does he wake up crying 😩

Question

My son is about to be 2 next month and every single time he wakes up from a nap or in the morning he wakes up crying and freaking out. It’s so overwhelming has anybody ever dealt with this and how did you stop it or does it get better? My first son never did this so this is new to me.

Does he stop crying as soon as you pick him up? My son 19 months) has always done this, it’s because they’re stuck in their crib and want mom or dad for comfort. He could be wet, hungry, ect. We switched my son to a toddler bed that he can get out of on his own when he wakes up. We placed a few small toys and books in his room so he can wake up and play. Now when he wakes up, he’ll play in his room and read books instead of cry. If I am still asleep and don’t hear him wake up or playing then he’ll call out “momma!!” When he’s ready to get out of his room. It’s been SO much better. I always felt so terrible that he’d wake up and cry out for me as soon as he opened his eyes. He is so much happier in the mornings now that we switched to his toddler bed. Hope this helps!

I can relate to this with my oldest son started when he was 1 every morning or nap time he woke up crying. If we spoken to him to comfort him it made it worst or even looking in his direction he would have a complete meltdown. We had to leave him alone for a few minutes till his brain woken up properly then he was back to being a happy baby.. this lasted till he was out of his toddlers years everyone know not to talk to him if he’s just woken up. For me it wasn’t concerning as he was fine once he woken up properly he just didn’t like to wake up. I put it down to being disoriented when you 1st wake up like most people are once your brain awake you can think properly. 😊

My son does the exact same thing!! He turned 2 in Aug. he’s been doing this for as long as I can remember. My 8 month old daughter is the complete opposite, she wakes up smiling and lot of times I will come into the room to find her just lying in her crib babbling happily. I dunno what is wrong with my son, is this normal. My husband even asks me why does he cry like that and I have no idea why

Night terrors. It’s a sleeping disorder. Please contact pediatrician about it. Poor kiddos

He could be having nightmares it’s really common for young kids to get like night terrors

That’s what I did when I was younger. I remember it was to pretty much get attention to have someone come to me and comfort me. Sometimes I would wake up alone and would cry and my grandma would always come and get me. It could be something related to that
